Texas has one of the most extensive tollway networks among the US states. The Dallas North Tollway of DFW, Fort Bend Parkway in Houston and Pickle Parkway in Austin are some of the major tollways here; also counted among the most expensive in the US. There are 27 toll bridges across the state including Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, Mountain Creek Lake Toll Bridge, Free Trade Bridge in Cameron County among others. Texas also has eight express lanes active currently and some are upcoming.
Most of the toll plazas here are electronic so the preferred method to pay toll in Texas is a tag transponder like TollTag, EZ TAG and others. All of these are interoperable but issued by different agencies. If you miss a toll on an NTAA toll facility, ZipCash is a convenient way to pay. For other toll facilities, missed toll payment in Texas varies.
